This year there are 4 Day 1s at the World Series of Poker – Day 1A, 1B, 1C and 1D. Now that the final Day 1 is complete here are some highlights

Notable players to bust on Day 1 include: Daniel Negreanu, Jamie Gold, Evelyn Ng, Doyle Brunson and Chris Moneymaker.

Notable players who have better than average chip stacks at the end of Day 1 include: Phil Ivey, David Benyamine and Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier.

The overall chip leader going into Day 2 is Troy Weber with 353,000 in chips, the next best player has about half of Weber’s stack.

One of the crazier hands from Day 1 play was a one-outer straight flush towards the end of Day 1D. Mark Flesch was all-in holding K♣ Khearts; with a flop of Q♣ J♣ 9♣, but his opponent turned over A♣ 2♣ for the nut flush.

A 3♥ was the turn card, leaving Flesch drawing for just one out, and amazingly the 10♣ came on the river giving him a straight flush and around 30,000 in chips. What a way to end the day!

Stayed tuned for highlights and news from Day 2.
